There’s so many trends in the wedding industry these days. Fashions are driven by blogs and magazines and it’s so easy to be sucked into micro-organizing things and getting wrapped up in 1000 little details. To a degree I’m down with that – it’s all cool, fun stuff and the sum of the parts all helps add up to the whole but that sort of fluff should never, ever, ever detract from the driving force of the day: the irrepressible love of two people and their commitment in public to each other for the rest of their lives. That calls for emotion and joy and the coming together of friends and family for one almighty celebration and *that* should always be what weddings are about and those little details, cool as they are, are just a side show.
I struggle to put into words how special Jess and Adrian’s wedding was – hopefully the photos will do it justice – but suffice to say that everything was absolutely right about their day in terms of what an awesome wedding should be. There was an electricity in the air from start to finish making it a celebration in the purist, most unbridled sense, with too many memorable moments and touches to mention… To pick out but a few: skanking to roots reggae out in a field: check, being lead into the wedding breakfast as man and wife by your uncle on bagpipes: check, impromptu speech from 7 year old flower girl / daughter: check… Perhaps my favourite though was a little surprise Jess put on for Adrian. The song ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is very special to these guys so before the first dance, Jess stealthily handed out copies of the lyrics to all the guests. After the first dance everyone flooded the dance floor for one almighty, stomping rendition of the song, directed at Adrian. A full on goose bump moment for sure.
Whilst I’ve shot south of Birmingham in the likes of THE COTSWOLDS and STRATFORD before, this was my first outing in Worcestershire as aBROMSGROVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER and without doubt one I will remember for a long, long time. Thanks for having me along for the ride guys!
