Relaxed Autumnal Rustic Chinese Inspired Tipi Marquee Wedding in Worcestershire

I first met this lovely chilled out couple back in February 2012 at their beautiful new cottage just outside Inkberrow in Worcestershire. The paddocks, which at the time were home to some pigs and sheep, were going to be used to host their wedding reception. From the moment I met them I just knew this was going to be a very different and inspirational wedding day. The bride and groom wanted to plan their own wedding but they also wanted the peace of mind of having an experienced and reputable wedding coordinator that they could handover all their plans to a couple of weeks before the wedding as well as having someone there on the day to coordinate everything for them so they could relax and enjoy their special day with family and friends. I was delighted that they chose me (Warwickshire Wedding Planner) to undertake this role.

The bride and groom wanted a nice chilled out day, a church ceremony was important to them, so they tied the knot at the beautiful St Peter’s Church in Inkberrow, Worcestershire.

London has played an important part in the bride’s working life so what better way to arrive at your own wedding than in a traditional London Red Double Decker Bus courtesy of friend Graham Smith.

For most brides planning your own wedding is challenging and stressful enough but this bride even made her own wedding dress alongside finishing her medical exams! How about that for super talented – she is one inspirational lady.

The bride had a large bridal party consisting of the Maid of Honour, 4 adult bridesmaids, 5 small bridesmaids and 3 page boys. In church, the bride placed one balloon on the aisle side of each pew which were individually named for each of the children in the bridal party. The children collected their balloon on the way out after the ceremony and released them up into the sky which was captured beautifully by the wedding photographer – an image the couple used on their post wedding thank you cards.

Keen on doing their bit to protect the environment, the bride and groom wanted to make good use of 21st century technology and opted for an off the shelf wedding website to invite guests to their wedding rather than having printed wedding stationary. Instead of having traditional order of service sheets printed for each guest as they arrived at church the couple chose to project the order of service from a laptop on to a large screen at the front of the church.

After the ceremony, the bride and groom departed in a stunning Alvis Classic wedding car owned by their friend Nigel Clark, complete with the traditional Chinese red ribbon (the bride is half Chinese).

The bride wanted a really different wedding reception, something a bit quirky that all their guests would remember forever, and with the bride being half Chinese some Chinese traditions were very important to her, including a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony.

The wedding reception took place at their new home in Inkberrow and consisted of 3 King Tipi’s, supplied byElite Tents, complete with traditional open fires at both ends, a stunning retro Juke Box, the dance floor and Bar area. The centre Tipi was decorated with traditional Chinese Lanterns.

As the guests arrived at the wedding reception, they were greeted with a warming cider toddie and a pop cake with a choice of cows, pigs or sheep. Not only did they look spectacular but they tasted amazing too!

Adjoining on to the 3 King Tipi’s was a modern clear span  marquee, supplied by Ridgeway Marquees, which was used to create a separate dining area. The couple chose an autumnal rustic theme to reflect the time of year. The venue dressing will definitely inspire the D.I.Y. lovers amongst you – there’s rustic tree logs, bespoke leather leaf key rings, green garden ribbon, recycled jam jars and beer bottles plus lots more.

The seating was split between formal round tables covered with white tablecloths for the older guests and long wooden trestle tables with a ‘sit where you like’ policy for everyone else…including the bride and groom!

To save guests trapsing through their house, the bride and groom hired a luxury toilet block which was situated at the back of the modern clear span marquee.

The evening entertainment kicked off with a superb Cabaret performance by the amazingly talented The Vernon Sisters followed by a Soul / Motown fusion to really get the wedding guests dancing.

The wedding guests were treated to a spectacular fireworks display courtesy of 1st Galaxy Fireworks which ended with the release of the traditional Chinese Lanterns which really lit up the evening night sky.

To end their wedding celebrations in style the newly-weds and their wedding guests camped in mini Tipi’s on the night of the wedding. The bride and groom had a special honeymoon Tipi.

Thank you to this lovely bride and groom for choosing me to coordinate your special day.

Best wishes,
Louise x
