Could a winter wedding be right for you?

YOU MIGHT NEVER HAVE CONSIDERED HAVING A WINTER WEDDING, YOU MAY BE WORRIED IT WOULD BE TOO COLD, BUT A TIPI WINTER WEDDING MIGHT ACTUALLY BE A FABULOUS OPTION FOR YOU…

Traditionally Winter is the time of year when people shut themselves indoors under fleecy blankets, wearing their onesies, away from the chill outside probably watching Strictly Come Dancing or Netflix boxsets! On the other hand there are those festive types who embrace the open log fires, woolly hats and gloves and celebrate with the best of them either at the winter markets or the local ale house.

As many in the outdoor wedding industry will agree this time of year does slow down compared with the summer months as the uncertain English weather can be a potential worry to couples. However in actual fact an outdoor winter wedding could be really spectacular.

Below are a list of the main concerns brides may have for a winter wedding and some solutions too…

1. IT GETS DARK TOO EARLY!

First of all we think that is a perfect reason to start your celebrations nice and early in the day, but even if it does get dark early your guests can move easily from place to place such as the car park and toilets simply by you putting in place uplighters, lanterns, festoon walkways or even jars with candles to create a path. Any of these will create a gorgeous effect and enhance your outdoor space.

2. HOW WILL WE BE ABLE TO MANAGE THE CATERING IN THE WINTER TIME?

Together with your tipi we can supply an equally weather proof catering annexe which is joined to the tipis by a short tented corridor so that no one has to step outside and your food will stay piping hot – and while we think about food a winter wedding can be the perfect excuse for gorgeous comfort foods, sticky puddings and mulled wine. Yum!

3. IF THE TENT HAS TO BE CLOSED UP, WE WON’T BE ABLE TO SEE THE VIEWS

Our fabulous Wallflex system made of clear, waterproof panels means that you can still have the sides of the tipi open but keep the heat inside and the cold out! We also have gorgeous wooden doors which can be positioned for a grander entrance.

4. I’VE HEARD THAT TENTS LEAK IN THE WET AND WIND

We only use Authentic Nordic Tipis which are manufactured in Sweden where they are designed for snow 6m deep! These magnificent tents will retain heat and keep out the elements – guaranteed! If you want to see what the difference is between these Authentic Swedish tents and other tipis then take a look at the origins of our tents pages.

5. WHAT ABOUT GETTING TO THE TOILETS?

Our Luxury Toilet Supplier can position the unit right behind your tipis and we will put down a matting walkway so that it

is a very short and easy few steps when it is time for a comfort break.. and to make it fun you could simply pop some funky umbrellas in a stand by the doorway just in case of wet weather.

6. Will it cost me more to have a winter wedding?

The cost of having a winter wedding is hardly any different from a normal summer one. If you book your tipi with Elite we include the indirect heaters as standard within your package. You may find that some suppliers are slightly less expensive in the winter too which can be helpful.

The reindeer hides and sparkling fairy lights are a wonderful start to a winter après ski theme, or a christmassy ambience and with firepits and toasted marshmallows what’s not to like?
