Firstly, congratulations on your engagement! Hopefully you’re now feeling the excitement of planning your own special day and thinking of all the endless possibilities. If you’re here you’re obviously at least a little bit curious about holding your wedding outside – so why have an outdoor wedding? Allow me to give you a glimpse into just SOME of the reasons…
Every couple wants their special day to be the best of their lives but also to be both fun and memorable for their guests too. So if you want to do something unique and personal to you both, if you fancy a wedding reception with a twist and the freedom to have the catering you want and the bar prices that won’t leave a hole in your guests pockets… then an outdoor wedding reception could be the answer for you. Field weddings are becoming more and more popular as couples try to move away from the rigidity and formality of hotels and packages and as you look into this option you will find so much choice that you will feel truly spoilt!
#1 It is not as expensive as you think.
It is a misguided rumour that arranging an outdoor wedding celebration is expensive and very difficult to co-ordinate. This couldn’t be further from the truth and I would like to help put your minds at rest with a few useful hints, tips and checklists to help you through the very straight forward arrangements. #2 It gives you choices
There are some fantastic advantages to using a field for your celebrations as you have much more choice when it comes to your location, your caterers, entertainment, decorations and of course what time the bar closes.
#3 Planning an outdoor wedding can be more fun!
Provided you have some time you are willing to invest, and someone to give you some pointers (the team at Elite can help you there) planning your event can be great fun. You can involve family members and friends and spend time on each aspect of the organising, or delegate the parts you want to!
#4 It’s more personal
One of the most popular reasons we see amongst our couples is the fact they want their day to be unique. And even though plenty of people now have outdoor weddings, the fact that you do not have to follow regimented hotel or barn guidance on décor and timings you really can make the day your own. #5 An outdoor wedding can still have a very meaningful ceremony
One of things couples who want a field wedding sometimes struggle with is finding somewhere close to their field to have their ceremony. If you want a church wedding then there is likely to be a church in the locality but you will need to go along and see the vicar or minister and find out whether you are eligible to be married there and what you need to do too become eligible if not.
Alternatively, you may not be aware but that there are a vast amount of venues, such as hotels and national trust buildings that are more than happy for you to use them just for your wedding ceremony, so you can then move onto your field reception afterwards. Not all hotels are strict to you holding your whole day there, they appreciate that times are changing and that people want more variety. Some couples find that it is nice to book into the hotel where they are having the ceremony the night before and stay there with your family and friends; a lovely relaxing start to your wedding day all in one place.
Another option is that you can have a humanist ceremony or you may know it as a blessing in the field. You will be able to find out more about this on your local council website. (The legalities have to be done at the local register office but then you are able to have your blessing elsewhere – including in the tipis themselves!)
